Student Withdrawal Policy

Northern Dance Theatre (NDT) understands that circumstances may arise requiring a student to withdraw from classes. This policy outlines the procedures and conditions for student withdrawals.

  1. Withdrawal Notice
    • A 30-day written notice is required for all class withdrawals.
    • Withdrawal notices must be submitted in writing to the studio office or via email to [insert studio email].
    • Verbal notices of withdrawal will not be accepted.
  2. Effective Date
    • The withdrawal will become effective 30 days from the date the written notice is received by NDT.
    • Students are welcome and encouraged to continue attending classes during this 30-day period.
  3. Tuition Responsibility
    • Tuition will be charged for the full 30-day notice period, regardless of class attendance during this time.
    • If tuition has been paid in advance, a prorated refund will be issued for any classes beyond the 30-day notice period.
  4. Annual Registration Fee
    • The annual registration fee is non-refundable, even in the event of withdrawal.
  5. Costume Fees
    • If a student withdraws after costumes have been ordered for performances, the costume fee is non-refundable.
    • Costumes will be provided to the student when they arrive if the fee has been paid in full.
  6. Withdrawal from Select Classes
    • Students may withdraw from individual classes without withdrawing from the studio entirely.
    • The same 30-day notice period applies to individual class withdrawals.
  7. Temporary Leaves of Absence
    • For temporary leaves (4 weeks or more) due to illness, injury, or other circumstances, please refer to our Leave of Absence Policy.
  8. Class Placement Upon Return
    • Students who withdraw and later wish to re-enroll will be placed in classes based on current ability and availability.
    • Prior class placement is not guaranteed upon re-enrollment.
  9. Refunds
    • Any applicable refunds will be processed within 30 days of the student’s last day of class.
    • Refunds will be issued in the same form as the original payment.
  10. Outstanding Balances
    • Any outstanding balance on the account must be paid in full at the time of withdrawal.
  11. Withdrawal Impact on Performances
    • Students who withdraw may forfeit their roles in upcoming performances, depending on the withdrawal date.
  12. Personal Items
    • Any personal items left at the studio after the final class must be collected within 14 days, after which they may be donated or discarded.

NDT reserves the right to dismiss any student from the program due to frequent absences, behavioral issues, or non-payment of fees. In such cases, this withdrawal policy will still apply.

We value every student’s journey in dance and hope that withdrawals are rare. If you have any questions about this policy or need to discuss special circumstances, please contact our studio office.
