Student Code of Conduct

Northern Dance Theatre (NDT) is committed to providing a positive and enriching environment for all our students. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations we have for our dancers to ensure a respectful, safe, and productive learning atmosphere.

  1. Respect
    • Treat all instructors, staff, and fellow students with courtesy and respect.
    • Listen attentively and follow instructions during class.
    • Refrain from disruptive behavior that may interfere with others’ learning.
  2. Attendance and Punctuality
    • Arrive at least 15 minutes before class to prepare and warm up.
    • Attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals consistently.
    • Inform the studio of any anticipated absences in advance.
  3. Dress Code
    • Adhere to the dress requirements for your specific class (see Dress Code Policy for details).
    • Maintain a neat and tidy appearance, with hair securely fastened away from the face.
  4. Studio Etiquette
    • Keep the studio, dressing rooms, and common areas clean and tidy.
    • Do not bring food into the dance studios. Water in closed containers is permitted.
    • Turn off or silence cell phones during class time.
  5. Safety
    • Report any injuries or health concerns to your instructor immediately.
    • Do not attempt any movements or techniques beyond your current skill level without instructor guidance.
  6. Communication
    • Use respectful language and tone when speaking with instructors, staff, and peers.
    • Address any concerns or issues directly with your instructor or studio management.
  7. Social Media and Photography
    • Obtain permission before posting any photos or videos taken in the studio or during performances.
    • Represent NDT positively on social media platforms.

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including verbal warnings, parent conferences, or in severe cases, dismissal from the program. We encourage open communication and welcome any questions or concerns regarding this policy.

By participating in classes at Northern Dance Theatre, students and their parents/guardians acknowledge and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
