Emily Rumley, a Colville, WA native, grew up with a heart divided between two loves: music and ballet. From tickling the ivories to belting out tunes in choir, music was always in her soul. But it was at Northern Dance Theatre, under the guidance of Laura Golphenee, where her dance journey truly began.
After high school, Emily’s passion for dance led her to Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. There, she soaked up knowledge from inspiring professors, mastering a diverse range of dance styles. In 2017, Emily graduated cum laude with a BFA in Dance, ready to share her love for movement with the world.
Life brought Emily full circle back to Northern Dance Theatre, where she began her teaching career. In 2022, she stepped into the exciting role of Owner and Artistic Director, carrying the torch of dance education in the community. Emily’s mission is simple yet powerful: to spread the joy and love of dance to all who walk through NDT’s doors.
