Laura Danskin Golphenee, a Billings, Montana native, grew up immersed in the vibrant world of the arts. Her ballet journey began under the tutelage of June Austin and blossomed further with Leonard J. Fowler at Eastern Washington University. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Theatre/Dance, even snagging the prestigious Mary Shields Wilson Award.
Laura’s passion for performance led her to musicals, singing and dancing ensembles, and ballets across Washington and California. Always eager to learn, she continued her dance studies with renowned teachers in California, Chicago, and New York. Laura’s love for teaching led her to work in studios and public schools, where she honed her craft and envisioned owning her own dance studio and theatre one day.
In 1996, Laura’s dream took flight with the opening of Northern Dance Theatre. Her vision? To share the joy, love and discipline of dance with the community. Over the years, she’s guided countless students through various dance styles and mentored a talented team of instructors. Laura’s dedication to dance education and her infectious enthusiasm continue to inspire dancers of all ages at NDT.
